The nation is shocked after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack where 25 people lost their lives on 22nd April 2025. The key reason this came as a shock for many people was because the ambiance of Kashmir had been peaceful after many years in the running. The terrorist attack reminded people of the brutal 90s, as they used to be in terms of terror attacks in Kashmir.
It is noteworthy that yesterday’s terror attack has been the deadliest in Kashmir in the past 25 years. It was back in the year 2000 that 36 people were martyred in a terror attack.
There are parallels to be drawn in both terror attacks. When the attack of March 2000 took place, US President Clinton was on a visit to India. However, in the 2025 terror attack, US Vice President JD Vance was visiting India. It becomes pretty clear that the forces behind the attacks are in strong opposition to any Indo-US diplomacy. Whenever US diplomats visit India, the government needs to be on high alert, not just for the safety of the diplomats, but also against terrorist activities in Kashmir.
Pahalgam terror attack is nothing less than war against humanity
The terrorists have a knack for taking civilians by surprise and launching attacks when they are least expected. Not all visits of US diplomats to India are accompanied by terror attacks in Kashmir. But India’s security forces need to be on their feet to counter any such occurrences in the future. Such terror attacks are nothing less than war against humanity.
The Government of India (GoI) is fast on the heels of terrorists and is committed to serving justice soon. Hon. Home Minister of India, Mr. Amit Shah is on his visit to Pahalgam and is in a strong awareness of developments as they take place. PM Sh. Narendra Modi has cut short his visit to Saudi Arabia and will return to India on Wednesday morning in the light of the Pahalgam terror attack.
Implications of Pahalgam terror attack
This attack holds widespread implications for many parties involved. Indian security forces will need to pull up their socks and add additional caution to all their dealings from now on to make sure that such incidents are not repeated. Security budgets might need to be revisited and revised.
Kashmir, also known as the Switzerland of India and Heaven on Earth has for decades felt the impact of terrorism. The land could not be developed to its potential. In the dearth of terrorism, Kashmir could have been one of India’s most prosperous states.

Before yesterday’s terror attack in Pahalgam, business and tourism in Kashmir were scaling unprecedented highs and the land was progressing on the road to prosperity. It is hard to deny that the terror attack could have repercussions on economic activities in Pahalgam and Kashmir in general.
