But, Akshay Kumar has certainly done it again as the movie trailer of PadMan surpassed 20 million view in a matter of 2 days. Arunachalam Murugananthan – The Man behind It all
The PadMan movie story is based on the life of Arunachalam Murugananthan. Now, being ranked in the TIME’s list of 100 most influential people in the world and awarded Padma Shri. He certainly did not have a smooth start. In the trailer, we see how his life had a huge turn when he embarked upon his journey of creating cheaper sanitary napkins. And not to forget the ridicule and derision he faced from his own sister and wife, when he asked them to try out the pad.
In one of scene of the PadMan trailer releases, we can see him gifting a sanitary napkin to his sister on Raksha Bandhan. And claiming that there are no better gifts. Due to their stiff resistance, he goes on to test the pads himself by using animal blood. This eventually helped him devise a low cost machine that could help women in rural and urban areas. That not resort to other unhygienic methods during menstruation. In PadMan cast Akshay Kumar is going to portray himself as the Padman. We can see Radhika Apte as his wife and Sonam Kapoor playing a significant role too.

Well, let’s just hope that this movie sparks up a conversation on how badly our girls have to suffer because of these stereotypes. Including the fiery name of Arunachalam Murugananthan in his book the legends of Laxmi Prasad – there is a ray of hope that this movie would encourage women and men equally to talk about menstrual problems and menstrual hygiene.
Will the GST be laid off?
With Narendra Modi’s government laying on a hefty GST on the sanitary napkins, claiming it to be a luxury item. We can certainly hope that the issue resurfaces again. And we get to a solution. Due to his initiative, a lot of women have started using hygienic methods during menstruation. We hope that this reel issue soon garners attention in real life and we see real changes soon.
